Despite choppy waters and gray skies, there were smiles as swimmers took to the waters of the Boston Harbor and DCR Nantasket Beach July 12 and 13 for the annual Swim Across America (SAA) events, which support the David B. Perini, Jr. Quality of Life Clinic at Dana-Farber.
The funds raised by SAA support a fellowship through the Perini Clinic. The 2013 SAA fellow, Eric Zhou, Ph.D., has spent the past year studying treatments for insomnia in adolescent and young adult cancer survivors.
Through the fellowship, Dr. Zhou has met with more than 150 patients in the Perini Center, the Sexual Health Clinic, and the Stop & Shop Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Outcomes Clinic at Dana-Farber.
